Centre for “Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine” set for grandinauguration at AIIMS Jammu

In a landmark event for healthcare advancement in India, the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu is poised to inaugurate its state-of-the-art “Centre
for Advanced Genomics & Precision Medicine” on 2 nd February 2025.

The Centre set up in the Department of Pathology, AIIMS Jammu is a groundbreaking facility, established in collaboration with 4baseCare and represents a significant leap forward in the field of personalized medicine and cancer treatment.

The collaboration aims to revolutionize cancer care by bringing advanced genomic
testing capabilities to the region.

The Centre will house state-of-the-art Next
Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology, enabling comprehensive genomic
profiling for cancer patients.

This Centre will ensure timely and accurate cancer diagnosis through advanced Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology.

As cancer care is a race against time, having both diagnosis and treatment housed
within the same facility will significantly reduce delays, thus enhancing patient
outcomes.

Financially, the facility will provide substantial relief to the patients with the subsidised cost of the test as compared to other private labs.

Precision diagnostics will ensure that treatment plans are tailored to individual genetic profiles, minimizing ineffective treatments and associated costs.

The convenience of not having to travel long distances for diagnostic services further saves patients time and resources, making the facility a crucial addition to the regional healthcare landscape.

There is at present no facility in J&K and the adjacent areas providing such services. Even in other parts of India, there are just a couple of centres providing facilities of similar nature, however with lesser spectrum of services.

AIIMS Jammu will also host a half-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program
on Precision Medicine on 3 rd February 2025.

The Meet will bring together leading experts in the field to discuss the latest advancements and applications of precision medicine in cancer care.

Key highlights of the CME program include presentations on the role of precision medicine in multidisciplinary cancer care, case-based discussions on breast cancer and head and neck cancer, insights into breakthrough personalized treatments, exploration of CAR-T therapy as a new frontier in precision medicine and international perspectives on precision medicine from experts in the
Philippines.

The CME program will feature renowned speakers from Tata Memorial Hospital,
Mumbai, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore, Makati Medical Center, Philippines, Dr.
Mandeep Singh and P.D Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.

Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, ED & CEO, AIIMS Jammu stated “The proposed
AIIMS Jammu-4baseCare Centre for Genomics and Precision Medicine seeks to
integrate advanced genomic diagnostics with personalized care, revolutionizing

cancer treatment and research. This facility will provide cutting-edge diagnostic
capabilities, improve clinical outcomes, bolster research initiatives, and deliver
accessible, affordable precision medicine to not only regional population but to the
whole of India particularly, the northern region.”

AIIMS Jammu moves forward with its patient centric approach in synergy with its
motto — PATIENT FIRST.
