Chairman DDMA Leh Santosh Sukhadeve reviews flash flood restoration works
Leh, July 22: Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh who is also the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, convened a meeting to review the temporary and permanent flash flood restoration works in the district.
Chairman DDMA Leh inquired about the status of restoration work being done in Chokhang Vihara, Lamdon School, and Khakshal area, etc as well as the status of damaged roads, headworks of irrigation, electric poles, footbridges affected by flash flood.
Chairman informed that a group will be formed of DDMA Leh where all the stakeholders will be added and issues/concerns of any department during the relief/rescue operations will be addressed promptly.
He added that manpower deployment, machinery etc will be moved through MC Leh and Executive Engineer, R&B in the two zones that were affected the most.
Further, he directed the relief & rehabilitation committee that has been formed under the chairmanship of ADDC Leh, to ramp up the relief work with a special focus on the laborers that were affected in Skampari area and also to activate safe locations for more relief camps with all the necessary requirements/facilities in case of an emergency.
He directed the departments to work in close coordination with the locals, volunteers, etc and informed that all the necessary information, requirements, and concerns of the members will be dealt with promptly.
Additionally, he stressed that the concerned stakeholders must be in a state of readiness and also substantiate the authorities with all the information about their concerned areas of operation from time to time and take all such measures as may be appropriate for a holistic and proactive approach to manage the disaster.
Notwithstanding that, he directed the SDMs of all the blocks who joined the meeting virtually, to monitor the issues that were discussed in their respective sub-divisions.
Further, he appreciated the swift and timely action by all the stakeholders including Civil Adm, Indian Army, District Police, UTDRF, ITBP, and volunteers.
Earlier, ADC Leh and the officers from respective departments, police, and armed forces apprised the chairman about the status of affected areas along with necessary efforts being put in for the rescue and rehabilitation operations. ADC Leh stressed that DDMA members must gather at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for coordination and decisions that needed to be taken for quick response and recovery operations.
The meeting was also attended by SP Leh; SP Traffic; ADDC; CMO; CAHO; DRC; CEO; Deputy Director, District Motor Garages; Assistant Labour Commissioner; AD, FCS&CA; AD, DIPR; EO, MC Leh; Accounts Officer, representatives from the army, CRPF, ITBP, BRO, UTDRF, Airport, SRTC and telecom services like BSNL, Airtel as well as Executive Engineers from Construction, Road, and Building (R&B), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Public Health Engineering (PHE); Power Development Department (PDD) and others.
