Chairperson, BDC Sangaldan inaugurates Kissan Mela
RAMBAN, March 01: Chairperson, Block Development Council (BDC) Sangaldan, Naveeda Begum, inaugurated a one-day Kissan Mela organized by the Agriculture Department under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) today. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the farmers of Sangaldan sub-division in Gool.
During the event, the Chairperson and the Guest of Honour, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gool, Tanveer-ul-Majid Wani, took a tour of the exhibition where farmers displayed their extraordinary farm products. The Agriculture, Apiculture, and Horticulture departments also set up informative stalls. The farmers’ exhibits were displayed in the Mela and were highly appreciated and rewarded accordingly. All farmers who attended the Mela received a sickle and a mixed vegetable seed free of cost.
While addressing the gathering, the Chairperson appealed to the farming community to take full advantage of all the schemes and explore the possibilities of area-specific potential. She also commended the department for working with farmers at the grassroots level and called for more such Melas to be held in far-flung areas to create awareness among farmers.
The SDM, while speaking at the event, said that such Melas provide a suitable platform for farmers to interact with agricultural experts and learn about the latest innovations, which they can adopt in the field to ultimately achieve the goal of raising farmers’ income. He said adopting methods like integrated farming, organic farming, exotic vegetable cultivation and farm mechanization will surely pave the way for doubling the farmers’ income.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr Ashwani Kumar, stated that the Agriculture Department is committed to working for the welfare of the farming community.
District Agriculture Officer, Ravi Sharma, SDAO Gool Navin Kumar, SDAO Ramban Sudhir Manhas, SMS Gool, Anil Gupta, SMS Gool, Daulat Ram, Apiculture Dev. Assistant, Ayaz Reshi, Hort. Dev. officer, Gool, Farooq Rather, AEO Sangaldan, Vikramjit Singh, AEO Ramban and Jagdish Bali educated the farmers about various modern farming techniques and Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
