Chairperson DDC launches work of JJM scheme at Chak Rakhwalan; Assess damage to road, water pipes in Panchayat Sambal Sui
UDHAMPUR, January 19: Chairman, District Development Council Udhampur, Lal Chand today kick-started construction work of the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Panchayat Chak Rakwalan and assessed the damage to road and water pipe lines in Panchayat Sambal Sui.
At Panchayat Chak Rakwalan, the DDC chairman launched the work of the JJL scheme in presence of Chairperson Block Development Council Udhampur, Balwan Singh; Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti, R.K Mahajan; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Ashok Sharma; Asstt. Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Sandeep Gupta; Sarpanch Chak Rakwalan, Shiv Dev Singh and other PRI Members and locals of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman DDC Udhampur said that construction of one more Jal Jeevan Mission project in the District Udhampur is a step towards the mission of providing safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural area.
He further said once completed, every home in the area will have access to clean drinking water ending the problem of scarcity forever. The said Jal Jeevan Mission project will be executed at a cost of Rs.7.40 crore.
The Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur complimented the officers of Jal Shakti Department and called upon them to ensure that all the sanctioned projects were started and completed timely thereby facilitating provision of tap water to each house and habitation.
On the sideline of the tour, Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur also listened to the public grievances of Panchayat Chak Rakwalan and assured timely redressal of the same.
Meanwhile, following complaints of local public about damage of road and water pipe lines by a private telecom company, the Chairman, District Development Council, Lal Chand, Chief Executive Officer, District Development Council Udhampur Ghan Shyam Singh, SHO Udhampur visited Panchayat Sambal Sui and assessed the situation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman DDC Udhampur stated that he was receiving continuous complaints from the public about damage being done to the road by the company by using machinery under the pretext of laying down fiber wires. He further said that during the visit, he has found that water pipes as well as road infrastructure has suffered considerable damage. The permission for said excavation was by manual ways but the company has made use of machinery which resulted in damage to rural infrastructure.
Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur instructed the CEO District Development Council Udhampur to issue directions to the PWD/PMGSY/Jal Shakti Department to visit the site, assess the damages and prepare the DPR for repairing work and accordingly fix the penalty for the defaulting company. Further, directions are also issued to seize the machinery of the company if it uses it again.
