CHC Katra conducts awareness programme on TB

REASI, March 24: An umbrella programme was organised by Block Medical Officer Katra, Dr Gopal Dutt today to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB”.

An awareness rally was carried out by officials of Health Block Katra, including Asha workers and students of SMVDCON, regarding prevention and treatment of tuberculosis. The rally went from CHC Katra to Fountain Chowk to educate the masses about TB and its effects.

The programme was held under the direction of Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman and supervision of Chief Medical Officer Reasi, Dr Ravinder Manhas.

At CHC Katra, Chest Physician SMVD-NH, Dr Shamem delivered an awareness lecture to patients, attendants and staff.

Consultant Physician, Dr Kavita Sharma; Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Preeti Sharma and Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr Primla elaborated on the causes and consequences of tuberculosis and a multisectoral approach to combat the epidemic.

A skit regarding causes of tuberculosis like undernourishment, unhygienic conditions and poor living and working conditions was presented by students of SMVDCON. The play also highlighted the social stigma resulting from the disease and its effects on mental and social life.
