Chief Electoral Officer UT Ladakh chairs a meeting with representatives of political parties to sensitize them regarding MCC and Other guidelines
LEH, March 27: Chief Electoral Officer, UT Ladakh Yatendra M. Maralkar chaired a meeting with representatives of political parties to sensitize them with instructions and guidelines of the Election Commission of India regarding MCC, Media certification of political advertisements and other related matters.
He said that this election is going to be the first after the bifurcation of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. He underscores the importance of strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and instructions relating to media certification of political advertisements for the smooth conduct of elections in Ladakh. He also added that defacement of walls and public places with posters and other violations will be dealt with strictly. Furthermore, representatives of political parties were asked to appoint BLAs to assist BLOs in updating Electoral rolls at the booth level.
Joint CEO Sonam Chosjor, JKAS gave a detailed presentation on the instructions and guidelines on MCC and Media certification of political advertisements issued from time to time by ECI. He stressed on active participation of political parties in implementing MCC, guidelines on media certification of political advertisements, and other guidelines/instructions relating to various other election matters. Pendrive containing all the instructions and guidelines were handed over to the representatives of political parties attending the meeting.
CEO UT Ladakh, Yatendra M Maralkar, State Police Nodal Officer, DIG Sheik Junaid, Joint CEO, Shri Sonam Chosjor, State Nodal Officer Law and Order, Rigzen Spalgon, State Nodal Officer MCC, Sonam Nuboo and representatives of political parties were present in the meeting.
