CIPMC Jammu conducts Field Visit to ICAR-CITH

SRINAGAR, JULY 26: The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Jammu organized a field visit to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (ICAR-CITH) for 40 trainees participating in the Season Long Training Programme at the Centre of Excellence, Zawoora.


This educational visit was aimed to enhance the trainees’ knowledge and skills in pest and disease management in apple cultivation.


Upon arrival at ICAR-CITH, the group was warmly welcomed by Dr. O.C. Sharma, Principal Scientist. Dr. Javid Mir, Principal Scientist, provided a brief introduction of the institute, outlining its mission and key research areas.


The visit included comprehensive lectures by esteemed scientists at ICAR-CITH, Dr. M Abas Shah, Scientist (Entomology) delivered an insightful lecture on the major pests and non-insect pests affecting apple crops, along with effective management strategies. Dr. Sajad un Nabi, Scientist (Pathology) presented an informative session on various apple diseases and their management techniques.


The visit was coordinated by Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Arya, Assistant Director (PP) CIPMC Jammu, and Haroon Rashid Hakla, Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP), CIPMC Srinagar. Their guidance and expertise contributed significantly to the trainees’ understanding of integrated pest management practices.


This field visit underscores CIPMC’s commitment to providing hands-on training and fostering knowledge exchange between researchers and trainees, ultimately promoting sustainable and effective pest and disease management practices in horticulture.
