Cleanliness, plantation drive held by 84 Bn CRPF at Chanderkote
RAMBAN, JULY 27: On the occasion of 85th CRPF Raising Day, the 84 Bn CRPF conducted a mass cleanliness drive in the Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra langar site Chanderkote.
The campaign was led by Commandant 84 Bn, N Ranbir Singh, Second in Command, Vikram Singh, Dy. Commandant 84 Bn, T P Singh and more than 100 subordinate officers besides other ranks participated in the sanitation drive.
The Officers cleaned the Langar and surrounding areas besides cutting grass, collecting garbage and polythene bags. They also planted some saplings at the appropriate locations, adjoining the Langar site.
84 Bn CRPF is deployed in J&K since 2009, with its Bn Hq established at Chatha Jammu and its Coys are deployed in Ramban & Udhampur Districts and performing operationally very sensitive ROP duty on NH 44.
The Bn is ensuring smooth passage of Yatri, SF convoys and other vehicles in Udhampur and Ramban Districts of J&K.
While interacting with the Media, Commandant stated that CRPF was initially raised as Crown Representative Police on 27 July 1939. After Independence, it was rechristened as Central Reserve Police Force, during December 1949. Since its Raising, CRPF is deployed across the length and breadth of the country, in all conflict theatres, viz, North East, J&K, Punjab, LWE states.
The Force has rapidly grown and currently, there are nearly 250 Battalions, engaged in Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency, Anti Naxal Operations, VVIP security, L&O, Anti-Riot, Election Duties, etc wherever the Nation called for its services, he added.
On its Raising Day, to send out the message that we are not only performing operational duties, but also, committed to the cause of Cleaner and Greener Planet, the drive was conducted.
The Langer owners and locals expressed their gratitude, happiness with this noble initiative of 84 Bn CRPF. Later, for the Raising Day celebration, the Commandant, all Officers and personnel paid their homage to the Martyrs of CRPF, who made supreme sacrifices, in the service of the Nation. The Commandant addressed the Unit personnel and reiterated the glorious history of CRPF and appealed to all to rise to the occasion, whenever necessary, in the line of duty.
The Day concluded with a cultural evening and Bada Khana, in which all Officers and personnel participated.
