Club Cluster, University of Jammu to organize a ten-day festival of “Duggar Darpan”
Jammu, March 06- The club cluster of University of Jammu is going to organize a ten-day festival of Multi-Arts in collaboration with the Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) from 10th March to 20th March’23, said Prof Satnam Kour, Chairperson Club Cluster, University of Jammu at curtain raiser ceremony.
She underlined that Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-chancellor, University of Jammu conceptualized the idea of twelve clubs in accordance with the vision of NEP, 2020. Under the visionary and dynamic guidance of the vice-chancellor, the clubs intend to provide extra space to the students outside the structured classroom for enhancing their creativity, leadership qualities, community participation, and conservation of the environment in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Further, Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, Club Cluster detailed about the newly established clubs in the University of Jammu that have been given an umbrella term ‘Utsaah’ after holding a naming contest in which students, scholars, faculty members and non-teaching staff participated. Narinder Kumar, Ph.D. Scholar of Dept. of English won the contest and he will be given a certificate of appreciation in the inaugural function of the festival which is going to be held on 10th March.
She stated that the logo of the clubs shall also be released on the same day. In order to sensitize the students and to prepare them for the final programme, several workshops and interactive sessions were held, starting from 27th Feb, onwards. Various lectures and interactions with eminent professionals such as Ravinder Koul, a theatre personality, Mr. Bajinder Jha, a senior journalist, Dr. Asad Ahmad Rehmani, a renowned conservationist were held to impart knowledge to the students pertaining to their interests.
The chairperson shared that despite the busy schedule and examination time around seven hundred students have enrolled themselves in the respective clubs. She added that the vision of these clubs is to include alumni of the university in the future and also to invite sponsors to make these clubs a success. The theme of this Multi-Arts Festival is “Duggar Darpan”. Paintings, photographs, artefacts, karigari related to Dogra Culture and Heritage shall be displayed in the form of an exhibition on 20th March, said Prof Satnam Kour.
She exuded that a village ‘Sada Gran’ shall also be set up to depict rural life and cuisine of Jammu region. Dogri dances, songs, Gaddi dance, documentary film, theatrical performances on the life of Dogra Heroes, and interaction with Padma Shri Dogri Poet, Mohan Singh shall be the highlights of the culminating function. Dr Vinay Thusoo, Incharge, Media Cell, University of Jammu welcomed the representatives of media at the curtain raiser ceremony of ten-day multi-art festival titled ‘Duggar Darpan’.
Prof. Parmil Kumar, Coordinator Nature and Wildlife Club, Dr. Shashi Prabha, Coordinator, Community Service and Social Justice Club, Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator Literary Club, Dr. Garima Gupta, Coordinator Translation Club, Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Coordinator Heritage and Tourism Club, Dr. Madhulika Singh, Coordinator Theatre Club, Dr. Pritam Singh, Coordinator Photography Club, Shri Rakesh Sharma, Coordinator Painting Club, Dr. Priya Dutta, Coordinator Dance Club, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Coordinator Science Club attended the curtain raiser ceremony where they briefly talked about the immediate goals of their respective clubs and preparation for the festival that will be held on the university campus.
