CM Pramod Sawant and DGP Jaspal Singh join the celebrations of National Senior Citizen Day
Mapusa (Goa) [India], August 22 (ANI): Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, along with the Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh and other senior police officers, on Monday marked the celebration of National Senior Citizen Day with an event filled with compassion and camaraderie in Mapusa.
The event, held at Anantya Banquet Hall, Mapusa, brought together senior citizens from the district for a day filled with activities.
Chief Minister Sawant, addressing the gathering, expressed his delight at the participation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the DGP, and police officers, emphasizing the importance of the event. He outlined the three key components of the program.
Sawant, said, “Firstly, a health camp was organized, particularly focusing on diabetic ophthalmic checkups to ensure the well-being of our senior citizens. Secondly, there were entertaining performances organised for senior citizens. Thirdly, we took the opportunity to honour and felicitate our senior citizens, recognizing their valuable contributions to society.”
Chief Minister Sawant extended his congratulations to the entire police department for their dedication in organizing this event on National Senior Citizen Day.
DGP Jaspal Singh IPS underscored the significance of instilling confidence in senior citizens regarding law enforcement agencies.
He said, “Given that senior citizens frequently experience feelings of isolation, their children may work outside the state or enroll in higher education, and they frequently lack access to basic supplies and medications, the goa police have made it a priority to build senior citizens’ trust in the local law enforcement agency. Since they are defenceless, it is the responsibility of the law enforcement agency that we assist them.”
DGP Jaspal Singh emphasized, “It is the duty of law enforcement agencies to provide help and protection to senior citizens who are vulnerable due to various factors. We are committed to ensuring their safety and well-being.”
The celebration of National Senior Citizen Day in Mapusa served as a reminder of the importance of caring for and cherishing the elderly members of the community, as they are an integral part of society deserving respect and support.
