Comm Secy flags off EVM Demo Van for Voter Education
RAMBAN, December 21: To create public awareness and understanding of the electronic voting process ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Commissioner Secretary, Cooperatives, ARI & Trainings Departments, Yasha Mudgal, today flagged off an EVM Demonstration Van here from DC Office Complex, Ramban.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-haq Chaudhary, ADDC, Rajinder Sharam, ADC Harbans Sharma, ACR, Giasul Haq, SDM Banihal, Zaheer Abbas Bhat, Dy. DEO Lal Chand and other officers were present on the occasion.
The EVM Demo Van has been mobilized in the district on the directions of the Election Commissioner of India.
Master Trainers EVM Tarlok Singh and Jagan Nath, besides other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
Highlighting the significance of EVM Demo Van, the Deputy Commissioner said that the primary objective of this innovative initiative is to acquaint the public with the voting process using EVMs. The van’s itinerary includes traversing through all polling stations, serving as an educational tool to familiarize citizens with the EVM-based voting system.
The Deputy Commissioner said that special camps shall be organized by the team of election department and SDMs, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars in their respective jurisdictions for public awareness on EVMs at different headquarters. He directed to publish and disburse IEC material and audio messages in all languages including Hindi, Urdu and English.
The dedicated Van will visit all 348 polling stations to sensitize the people at their door steps about the functioning of EVMs.
