Commissioner Secretary IT evaluates progress of 2nd SSR of Electoral Rolls in Kishtwar
Also meets representatives of different political parties
KISHTWAR, AUGUST 6: Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology department, Prerna Puri, who is also the Electoral Roll Observer for Kishtwar District, today chaired a meeting of Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of the district to evaluate the progress of ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Photo Electoral Rolls-2024 here.
She also held an interactive session with representatives of various Political Parties.
District Election Officer Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav; ERO Kishtwar/ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal; Deputy District Election Officer/ERO Inderwal, Idrees Lone; ERO Paddar-Nagseni/SDM Paddar, Dr. Amit Kumar and AEROs/Tehsildars besides representatives of various political parties participated in the meeting.
The DEO presented a comprehensive report on the ongoing special summary revision in the district to the Commissioner Secretary.
The Commissioner Secretary, during the meeting, thoroughly reviewed the progress achieved in the district under SSR-2024. She instructed the concerned officers to ensure the completion of revision with the inclusion of new voters, correction of errors and removal of duplicate entries within the given timeframe.
Prerna Puri stressed on the urgency of speeding up the enrolment of PwD voters and ensuring that no voter remains unregistered in the district. She urged the officers and officials involved in the SSR to work with dedication and enthusiasm to ensure the entire process is completed promptly, achieving 100 percent enrolment of eligible voters.
She also directed for the amplification of SVEEP activities to educate the public, especially women and youth, about voter registration. She called for multimedia campaigns and the use of District Election Icons/District Election Ambassadors to encourage youth participation in the electoral process.
The Commissioner Secretary further instructed the officers to allocate resources and complete the SSR 2024 process within the stipulated timeframe. She emphasized on the importance of the timely resolution of claims and objections and directed the officers to setup of a helpline number for public inquiries regarding SSR in the district.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Secretary engaged with representatives of different political parties and sought their cooperation in ensuring accurate SSR in the district. She encouraged them to appoint Booth level agents of their respective parties at their level.
Prerna Puri urged them to motivate and educate the public to maximize voter enrolment in the district. Various suggestions were also sought from the political representatives in the meeting.
The DEO updated the Commissioner Secretary on the progress and ongoing work related to the SSR of Photo Electoral Rolls in the Assembly Constituencies.
