Condemns threatening posters in Poonch, seeks safety of people
JAMMU, October 18:-Congress has expressed deep shock and great concern over the barbaric killing of a couple of Koteranka in the upper reaches( Dhok) in Rajouri district, by unknown persons and demanded a high level probe into the shocking incident to know the nefarious designs of culprits.
The party has also expressed great concern over the reports of threatening posters in Digwar area of Poonch, whereby minority hindus and sikhs have been asked to leave the area, which is highly condemnable.
In a joint statement, JKPCC Working President Shri Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Mr Ravinder Sharma and former minister & District congress President Rajouri Mr Shabir Ahmed Khan have expressed great shock over the barbaric killing of the couple in upper reaches of Koteranka ( Kandi) area of Rajouri district and conveyed heartfelt sympathies with the family and relatives including Shri Ayub Pehalwan, a prominent political leader of the area & elder brother of the deceased Mohammad Azam.
They demanded a through investigation into the shocking incident to identify the culprits and their nefarious designs, for stern action in the matter. They also demanded adequate compensation and ex gratia relief to the victim family.
The senior congress leaders also expressed great concern over the reports of display / pasting of threatening posters in Digwar area of Poonch, calling upon the minority sikhs & hindus to leave. They damanded stern action in the matter and deployment of adequate security forces in the area to ensure safety of innocent citizens, besides launching massive operation against such terror elements.
They also expressed deep concern over the rise of terror related activities in the twin border districts of Rajouri- Poonch and asked the centre government and UT administration to take timely measures to prevent further deterioration in the situation.
