Congress gains momentum in Jammu: New members join amidst heated political exchange

Jammu, 03  October, 2013 : An impressive function was held by the Pradesh Congress Committee, at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk here today, in which PCC President Vikar Rasool Wani along with Working President Shri Raman Bhalla and other Senior  leaders of the Congress formally admitted and welcomed the prominent leaders who recently joined Congress party  in New Delhi. They alongwith hundreds of their supporters  reached  at PCC HQ Jammu amidst  raising of slogans in favour of Congress party.

Shri Yogesh Sawhney, Th. Balwan Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, Shri Vinod Sharma, Smt. Indu Pawar,  Pawan Raina , Shashi Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma,  Sanjeev Sharma, Babal Gupta,Vijay Sharma, Neeraj Gupta, Rajvir Singh, Ajay Lakhotra, Bhavishya Sudan, Naresh Sharma, Jatin K Raina, Ricky Dalotra, Com. Gurmit Singh Charanjit Bhagat and Hundreds of Congress workers  and Senior leaders of PCC, District Congress Committee, Frontal organizations  Mahila Congress, INTUC, Youth Congress, NSUI and Block Congress Committees assembled at Shaheedi Chowk to welcome the new entrants who alongwith hundreds of their supporters arrived to Congress headquarters from TRC-Residency Road raising slogans in favour of Congress leadership and Congress party.

Shri Vikar Rasool Wani President JKPCC while welcoming them to the Congress party said that  AICC President Shri Mallikaqrjun Kharge accepted the suggestion of Pradesh Congress Committee in consultation with AICC Incharge J&K Smt. Rajni Patil and AICC General Secretary I/C Organization Shri K.C.Venugopal, to admit those who were desirous of joining the mission of Congress party to serve the people of the state and strengthen the unity and integrity of all  regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

PCC Chief said that we extensively dealt with emerging political scenario in the Jammu and Kashmir, where Congress party is fast emerging as the only choice of people because of its progressive policies, democratic and secular values being strengthened by the party. He said that secularism is the strength of Indian Nation and   only Congress can lead the JKUT and the entire Nation to the path of peace, progress and prosperity by strengthening secular fabric of this country.

He said that there is anger among people against BJP who has played with the sentiments of the people who voted them to power. People are not happy with their policies and the government has proved to be a failure. We have taken to the streets against governance deficit, lack of development and failure of the government to deliver on the promises made to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.

PCC Working President Shri Raman Bhalla said that Congress has emerged a vibrant force in all regions of the state and the joining of more and more important leaders from political parties that Congress would win with thumping majority in forthcoming ULB elections. Stating that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inaliable part of India, He asserted that there is no place for politics of exploitation and negative politics, as people of the JKUT appreciate and participate in the great democracy of this great Nation.

He said that after abrogation of special status, the lands of poor being snatched, the protection to jobs is gone and there are no jobs in government and private sector. In this situation the BJP government and UT administration is putting additional burden of all sorts of taxes on poor. When the people raise their voice, they are booked on frivolous charges and crushed to suppress the voice of people. The common masses are up in arms now to fight against the authoritarian approach of the BJP government. 

Bhalla lamented over the BJP failing in showing least sensitivity towards people’s pain due to misgovernance, under-development and joblessness. He said the voice of the people is being choked as the ruling party at the Centre is quite touchy about pointing towards the problems being suffered by the people. To divert the public attention from the failures on all the fronts, the BJP is trying to divide the people on communal lines. The atmosphere across the country has been vitiated with the patriotic Indians, due to attempt of the BJP to divide the common people on communal lines. He appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to teach lesson to BJP in upcoming ULB elections and Assembly as well as Parliament election as and when held.

The leaders who joined Congress party include Yash Pal Kundal (Ex-MLA), Haji Abdul Rashid (Ex-MLA), DDC Member T. S. Tony,  Naresh Gupta(EX-MLC), Sham Lal Bhagat(Ex-MLC),Nirmal Singh Mehta, Santosh Majotra, Hima Bhat, Rajni Sharma, Surinder Dev Goza, Romesh Jee Rtd. SSP, Jyoti Vaid, Lalita Sharma, Madan Lal Chalotra (OBC) Leader) Meheshwar Vishav Karma and others. These leaders expressed gratitude to Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri Rahul Gandhi for admitting them in to the Congress party and assured the PCC leadership to work for strengthen the party and its policies & programmes.  They said that they have realized that the mood of the people is to further strengthen the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir, in order to defeat the communal and divisive forces, whose designs can be defeated by a secular force like Congress. They pledged to fight unitedly against the divisive politics of BJP.
