Congress hold meeting ahead of Assembly polls in Delhi

New Delhi [India], September 10 (ANI): Top Congress leaders held a meeting in the national capital ahead of the Assembly elections to be held this year in the four states of Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.

While the dates for the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir polls have been announced, the Election Commission is yet to announce dates for the other two states.

The meeting was held at AICC headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal was also present in the meeting.

The AICC also put out a video of the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday appointed party MP’s Ranjeet Ranjan, MK Raghavan and Amar Singh as secretaries of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). The party has appointed Vijay Vasanth as Treasurer of the CPP.

The appointments were made by the CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

The notification was issued by KC Venugopal on Tuesday.

Polling would be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir: September 18, September 25 and October 1. Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5. The counting of votes in both states will be held on October 8.

Jharkhand is set to witness an election to the 81-member legislative assembly later this year as the current government’s tenure ends in 2024.

The elections to 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra are scheduled to take place later this year.
