Congress leaders meet in Delhi discussing party’s issues in West Bengal
New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Congress leader Isha Khan Choudhary, in his meeting with Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Monday, said that discussions were done on how to strengthen the Congress party in West Bengal.
Speaking to ANI, Choudhary, who is also the only Congress Lok Sabha MP from West Bengal, said,”We had a meeting about how to strengthen our party in West Bengal. We asked for suggestions from everyone. We discussed what more we can do in West Bengal.”
On being asked about any major changes in the party’s leadership in the TMC-ruled state, Choudhary said that it was the decision of the high command.
“It will be decided by the high command. The main reason for the meeting is for the strengthening of the organisation in West Bengal,” he said.
Currently, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is the President of Congress in West Bengal and it is speculative that there might be changes in the role after he lost the Baharampur constituency in Lok Sabha 2024.
Isha Khan Chowdhury is the only Congress Lok Sabha MP from West Bengal who won from the Malda-South constituency this year.
Earlier, Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the BJP’s Members of Parliament from West Bengal and advised them to serve the people of Bengal and contribute to realising the vision of Sonar Bangla.
According to the sources, PM Modi told MPs that the people of West Bengal have accepted the BJP and instructed them to stay active for the upcoming assembly elections in the state and serve the people of the state.
Majumdar also informed about this meeting through his official X handle. In a social media post on X, Majumdar wrote, “Met PM Narendra Modi today along with the MPs from West Bengal. We are united in our commitment to serve the people of Bengal and contribute to realising PM Modi’s vision of Sonar Bangla.”
