“Congress Party’s legacy of corruption continues”: JP Nadda on MUDA ‘scam’
New Delhi [India], August 17 (ANI): Union Minister JP Nadda on Saturday attacked the Congress Party for its alleged involvement in the MUDA scam, saying that the Congress party’s legacy of corruption is continuing.
Nadda also reminded people of previous scandals committed by Congress, such as the National Herald case, and accused the party of betraying the public’s trust.
In a post on X, Nadda said, “Congress Party’s Legacy of Corruption Continues. From National Herald to MUDA Scam Karnataka, Congress Party’s history with corruption is well-documented. Time and again, they have betrayed the trust of the people for personal gain.”
“Instead of calling the decision as unconstitutional, Congress should reflect on its own actions. While Congress portrays itself as the guardian of Dalits and minorities, one of their own Chief Ministers is involved in grabbing land from a Dalit family. This is yet another instance of Congress’ hypocrisy and its family-centric politics,” he added in the post.
On Saturday, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam, according to Raj Bhavan sources.
In response, Siddaramaiah asserted that he had the full support of the State cabinet.
“The entire Cabinet, party high command, all MLAs, MLCs, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs are with me…,” he told reporters on Saturday.
The Karnataka government has announced its intention to challenge the Governor’s decision in the High Court. Siddaramaiah has maintained that “everything was done according to the law.”
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said that the state government will put all their weight behind Siddaramaiah.
“We stand with CM Siddaramaiah. The party, the high command the entire state and the Cabinet stand with him. We will fight it legally and we will fight it politically as well… Whatever notice and sanction has been given is against the law. We have made all our preparations to fight it legally, this is nothing but a clear conspiracy against backwards-class CM Siddaramaiah who is running the government for the second time,” Shivakumar said.
Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
The complaint alleges wrongdoing by Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed to be a landowner, and his family. It was further alleged that MUDA created fake documents and obtained plots worth crores of rupees. Snehamayi Krishna has raised several questions in his complaint.
