Congress protest against Gujarat HC’s refusal to stay Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in defamation case

JAMMU,7 July: Congress workers and leaders led by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today staged a protest against the Gujarat High Court’s refusal to stay party leader Rahul Gandhi conviction in a criminal defamation case over his “Modi surname” remark at various locations including Khour and JKPCC Headquarters in Jammu. The protest was organized by Satish Sharma. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Refugee Cell Congress Chairman Amrit Bali, NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra, BDC President Praveen Kumar, Prabhu Singh,  Block President Prem Singh, Rajveer Singh, Kapil Singh, Pawan Bhagat, Sandeep Dogra Sonu, Vijay Singh Chib Satpal Spolia, Vrinder Singh Manash, Rakesh Kumar, Anil Kumar ,Om Prakash, Des Raj Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat, Vijay Kumar,  Madan Lal Pragwalia Divyansh Singh, Sunil Singh, Nirmal Singh, Som Lal Bhagat, Chetan, Harshdev, Uttam Singh Corp, Vishal, Binny, Jyoti, Vikram, Rano Devi besides others. Congress workers shout slogans against BJP and PM Narendra Modi after Gujarat HC rejected Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking relief from conviction in the Modi-surname case.

Addressing protesters, Bhalla said the High Court’s verdict was “unfortunate” and was a “murder of the democracy”.“We have to understand why Rahul Gandhi is being targeted. He is raising the issues of common people and he is against the BJP. The Modi government is dividing people and Rahul Gandhi wants to bring them together,” Bhalla said. He further alleged that the Modi government disqualified Gandhi by raising fake cases against him after he questioned connections between Modi and the Adani Group.

Bhalla said “Rahul Gandhi gave us the slogan of ‘Daro Mat’, which is why we are not scared, and he also gave us the slogan ‘Ladenge’, hence we will continue our fight,” he said. Bhalla said BJP Govt wants that questions of public interest should not be raised, govt wants that questions that improve the lives of the people of the country should not be raised, Govt wants that they should not be asked questions on inflation, nothing on employment of youth There should be no voice for the welfare of the farmers, there should be no talk of the rights of women, the question of honor of the laborers should not be raised. Rahul Gandhi is fighting the battle of truth and interests of the people in front of this arrogant power, added Bhalla.

Bhalla said the opposition parties and entire country stand by  Rahul Gandhi . He has been uniting the country walking on the streets of this nation. BJP leaders are not able to tolerate him and that’s why they want to stop him.” Instead of punishing ‘Bank Fraudsters’ like Nirav Modi, Ami Modi, Neeshal Modi, Mehul Choksi & ilk, the “messenger” exposing the deceit & swindling of public money is being punished.  Rahul Gandhi has chosen the path of truth, of righteousness, of fearlessness & of seeking accountability from those in citadels of power Bhalla said.This verdict is nothing but shows democracy is in danger. Colonial rule is coming back after 75 years in this country. So we staged a silent protest against the verdict,” he added.

Calling Rahul Gandhi the “son of a martyr”, Bhalla said the BJP insulted him every day, not even sparing their Nehru-Gandhi family. He said that Rahul Gandhi would fight legally in connection with the defamation case and the people have trust in Rahul Gandhi. The BJP government deliberately targeted Rahul Gandhi after Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir received mammoth response from people. “Rahul Gandhi obtained people’s support and he will be the next Prime Minister in the 2024 general elections. Unable to digest Rahul Gandhi’s fame due to Bharat Jodo Yatra, the BJP and governments deliberately registered false cases,” Bhalla said. The people observe the BJP’s political harassment and voters will teach a lesson to BJP in next general elections,” Bhalla said.

Satish Sharma stated that allegations against Rahul Gandhi are baseless and the verdict came on the instructions of the BJP-ruled Centre.He said that the BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi as he was working for the poor of the country.“They are scared as the elections are coming close. If we are stopped, then it will become easy for them. We have people with us. In the 9-year BJP rule, everything has become zero,” he added.People of the country are taking to the streets. Rahul Gandhi and Congress are being conspired against because BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi & Congress. Rahul Gandhi’s voice can’t be stifled. He spoke against one individual, he didn’t target a caste. This conspiracy will cost BJP, their countdown has begun, added Satish.
