Congress protests against surge in terrorist attacks across Jammu Region

Uday warns BJP to desist from taking J&K people for granted, asks to restore Statehood

Jammu, July 21: Congress in Jammu North today staged a protest against recent surge in terrorist attacks across the Jammu region.

The protest was organised by Surinder Kumar Vice Chairman JKPCC SC Department.

The protesters headed by Uday Bhanu Chib, General Secretary Indian Youth Congress, assembled at High Court Chowk, Janipur, Ward No. 34, in the Jammu North Assembly, voiced their concerns over the increasing terror attacks and criticized the central government for its perceived failure to ensure the safety and security of the region’s residents.

Talking to media persons, Uday Chib lambasted the central government, accusing it of implementing hollow policies that have led to the escalation in terrorist activities. “Jammu has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks due to the ineffective and insubstantial policies of the central government,” Chib stated. He further questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) continued silence on this critical issue, accusing them of neglecting the pressing security concerns of the region.

Uday Chib also criticized the BJP government for what he termed as the weakening of the democratic framework in Jammu and Kashmir by centralizing more power with the Lieutenant Governor. “The BJP government has undermined the democratic setup in Jammu and Kashmir by augmenting the powers of the Lieutenant Governor, which has diluted the role and effectiveness of local governance,” Chib asserted.

Raising concerns over the lack of basic amenities in the region, Chib highlighted the daily struggles of the people. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are crying out for basic amenities, yet their pleas continue to fall on deaf ears,” he said.

Uday Chib reiterated the Congress party’s demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that this move is crucial for the region’s political and economic stability. “The BJP government must restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that the people have a rightful say in their governance and future,” he demanded.

In a stern warning to the BJP, Chib stated, “The BJP should not take the people of Jammu and Kashmir for granted. The growing discontent among the populace is a clear indication that their patience is wearing thin.”

The protest concluded with a call to action for the central government to address the issues raised and take immediate steps to restore peace and normalcy in the region.
