Congress remembers G.M. Sadfiq, Mir Qasim and Mir Lasjan

Jammu, December 12:- Rich tributes were paid by the Congress party to Shri G. M. Sadiq former Prime Minister & first Chief Minister of J&K and founder of Congress party in J&K, Syed Mir Qasim ( Former Chief Minister) and G. M. Mir Lasjan (former Minister) on their death anniversaries today. The function was presided over by Working President PCC Shri Raman Bhalla and attended by senior leaders of PCC, District and Block Presidents and Mahila Congress leaders besides  frontal wings.

While paying tributes to the veteran leaders the speakers described G.M. Sadiq as a most honest, secular patriotic and able administrator who gave corruption free and efficient administration to the people of Jammu and Kashmir State. He played an important role to  further cement the State- Centre  relationship and brought J&K more closer to rest of the Country by taking several  important and effective Constitutional measures. He was a revolutionary and most honest leader whose thoughts, policies and programmes are relevant and guiding factors for all the times to come. He was Prime Minister and the first  Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and his tenure is remembered  even today as  an exemplary one in  terms of  clean and efficient administration. It was Mr. G.M. Sadiq who brought about sixth Constitutional amendment to change the nomenclature of Sader-e-Riyasat to Governor and  from Prime Minister to Chief Minister. It was under his leadership the congress was formally founded in J&K in 1965.

The leaders also remembered the services of Former Chief Minister Syed Mir Qasim and G. M. Mir Lasjan who were also founder members of congress and described them best administrators who always cared for people and kept their interests above all. Sayed Mir Qasim quit the post of Chief Minister to pave way for the installation of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah as Chief Minister in 1975 following Indira-Sheikh Accord, in the larger interest of nation to strengthen the mainstream politics in Jammu and Kashmir. All three congress stalwarts remained committed to the secular and democratic principles and ideology of the Congress party.

Manmohan Singh , Shabir Ahmed Khan (Ex-Minister), Ashok Dogra (Ex-MLA), Shashi Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Vijay Sharma (Seva Dal), Ajay Lakhotra (NSUI), Ch. Hussain Waffa, Parvez Wani , Vinod Khajuria Riyaaz Bashir Naaz ( DDC Poonch), Sanjeev Panda,  Sahil Sharma,      AP Singh Lucky, Michael Wazir, Varinder  Manhas,  Ricky Dalotra,  Dr. R.K. Khajuria, Prof. H. R. Sharma, Ranjit Singh Manhas, S.S.
