KATHUA, January 16: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Rajnish Sharma Mian today convened series of Bharat Jodo Preparatory meetings at Chakda, Hariachak, Khanpur, Lakhnote Nagri, Nanak Chak of Kathua District. The meetings were organised by President DCC Kathua Pankaj Dogra. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Ex MLA Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Narinder khajuria, Rakesh Sharma, Akaash Bharat, Sanjay Razdan, Raman Thappa, Parveen Sharma, KB Singh Jaswant Singh Kaka, Ravinder Paul Singh, Sat Paul Bhandari, Parmjit Singh, Tarsem Paul Saini, Pankaj Sharma, Yog Raj, Rajnish Basotra,Block President Sohan Lal, Block ,President Ravi Sharma, President Block Subash Chander Vishu Andotra DCC and BCC Office bearers were also present.
Raman Bhalla speaking on the occasion said that yatra is a game changer, not for the Congress party, not for Rahul Gandhi but for the people of this country. For this is a yatra to decisively raise a bugle against the rampant unemployment in India. This is also a yatra against the massive price rise which has broken the back of common people. This is also a yatra to fight hate and division.” Govt is scared of of the response Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting. It has actually become a Jan Andolan, it’s a people’s movement. It’s no longer a Congress party movement. Yes, there are a lot of Congress people but it’s a people’s movement. People from all shades, people who used to criticise us, people who were bitterly opposed to us, they all have joined hands for the sake of the nation. And that’s why the BJP is running helter-skelter and is scared, added Bhalla.”
Bhalla further said that Yatra has attracted thousands across age groups, castes, religions and economic strata, has generated curiosity and hope in civil society and prompted some to shed their negative opinion about Rahul Gandhi. “The toxic politics and rising economic inequality created so much cynicism. The Bharat Jodo Yatra finally demolishes the perception that secularism is not central to our politics. Though it is good for the Congress, it is very important for society and the country. Nehru said in 1952 that opposing communalism was more important for him than winning elections,” he said. “There can’t be any negativity about this Yatra; it is raising all the relevant issues. Rahul Gandhi is not meeting only political workers, he is meeting ordinary citizens, representatives of different social and business groups and activists, added Bhalla .
Bhalla alleged that the BJP has pushed the Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political uncertainty by failing to maintain law and order and indulging in politics of hate.”BJP ever since getting access to power in Delhi had been on a rampage of dispossessing and disempowering common people of Jammu and Kashmir. It’s not about a particular community or a sect, they have went berserk against all of us collectively. We have been used as political cannon fodders by BJP all across the country”, Bhalla said.He said people want change, as the BJP has failed on all fronts of governance especially unchecked price rise, record unemployment besides other anti-employees, anti-trade, anti-poor politics in J&K.”The people of Jammu and Kashmir have only one option to fight this monster of hate and discrimination, that option is the Indian National Congress, the only party which hasn’t and which will never cozy with BJP,” Bhalla said while criticizing the leaders whose political career is at its dusk but are still busy in implementing the “BJP’s agenda” in Jammu and Kashmir. “Having failed to give employment to highest number of educated unemployed youth, the Centre and UT Administration is beating about bushes and finding faults in the past Govts”, he said.
Rajnish Sharma Mian in his address appealed to the people of J&K to reject “the pro-rich and anti-youth” BJP for peace and prosperity in the region. He slammed the BJP government for using public money for polishing their own image through massive advertisement. The fact is that the BJP government has failed to deliver to the people on all fronts and would be wiped out of J&K whenever assembly elections take place here. He said Congress will create awareness among the general public about the failures of the government and the drawbacks of not having the status of being a state. He said that Jammu has witnessed huge setbacks due to the revocation of statehood by the BJP Government including the seizing of jobs, land, and the suppression of political and civil rights. The Centre should accept the demand for restoration of statehood to J&K in the interest of the Constitution and democracy, he stated.
Pankaj Dogra speaking on the ocassion said that people of all sections have turned against the BJP, that’s why elections are being delayed fear of losing polls.”The fact is that the BJP government has failed to deliver to the people on all fronts and would be wiped out of J&K whenever assembly elections take place here”. Dogra alleged that Jammu has witnessed huge setbacks due to the revocation of statehood by the BJP government including seizing of jobs, land, and the suppression of political and civil rights. He also castigated the Centre for remaining busy in rhetoric rather than doing work on ground. He said that the situation on ground zero in J&K is contrary to the claims of the BJP leadership over colossal development and lasting peace.
