CRC Jammu and FICCI FLO JKL Celebrate International Day for Persons with Disabilities

Jammu, December 3, 2024: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu, in partnership with FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh (JKL), marked the International Day for Persons with Disabilities with an uplifting and inclusive event at the GMC Jammu auditorium. The program focused on raising awareness, fostering inclusivity, and empowering persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Devansh Yadav (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, who praised the collaborative efforts of CRC Jammu and FICCI FLO JKL in creating a more inclusive society.

Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director of CRC Jammu, inaugurated the event with a welcome address and a presentation on CRC Jammu’s journey. She expressed her gratitude to the participants and reaffirmed the center’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for PWDs.

Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL, delivered an inspiring message, urging society to embrace a future where individuals are valued for their strength, courage, determination, and unity rather than their physical or mental abilities. She emphasized the need for accessible infrastructure and inclusive ecosystems while lauding the indomitable spirit of the differently abled individuals present at the event.

The event featured a captivating cultural program where children with special needs (CWSN) showcased their incredible talents. The competition culminated in CRC students securing the first place, followed by Jammu Sanskriti School and Model Academy Inclusive School in second and third places, respectively. Furthering the mission of accessibility and empowerment, CRC Jammu distributed assistive aids and appliances to PWDs under the Pradhan Mantri Dakshata Kendra (PMDK) scheme.

In addition, achievers in the fields of sports, education, and entrepreneurship were felicitated for their remarkable accomplishments. Among those honored were Ms. Vijay Puri, Chandeep Singh, Kritika Khanna, Sallu Gupta, and Priyanka Choudhary, whose contributions were celebrated as a testament to perseverance and success. An exhibition outside the auditorium showcased assistive aids from ALIMCO alongside creative works by CWSN, garnering admiration from attendees and highlighting the ingenuity and talent of these individuals.

The program was eloquently hosted by Dr. Aksa Rao, Associate Professor, English Department, GCW Parade, who ensured the event flowed seamlessly. Mr. Naveen Gupta, Administrative Officer, CRC Jammu, concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of participants, collaborators, and the audience.

From FICCI FLO JKL, Varuna Anand (Immediate Past Chairperson), Varsha Bansal (Vice Chairperson), and other esteemed members lent their presence and support to the occasion.

This celebration not only showcased the talents and resilience of persons with disabilities but also reinforced the message of inclusivity, empowerment, and the collective responsibility to build a more accepting society.
