Crime and Criminal Tracking & Network System in Ladakh being amplified Advisor Ladakh reviews progress

Leh, Feb  01, 2024: Advisor Ladakh Dr Pawan Kotwal reviewed the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network System (CCTNS) in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
DIG Ladakh Police Sheikh Junaid Mehmood apprised the Advisor that although this system was conceptualised in 2009 and launched across India in 2012, Ladakh had to start setting up the mechanism from scratch as a new Union Territory with the support from Technical Consultant and PMU M/S KPMG from Oct 2021.

Ketan Surve, Sr. Technical Consultant, M/s KPMG apprised the meeting that, during the establishment of CCTNS Ladakh Project, Ladakh UT had migrated the historical Case data (2016 to 2019), around 1774 cases, from the J&K CCTNS offline systems to eventually establish Ladakh’s system, in full swing since 2021. The meeting was informed that the UT of Ladakh has now adopted a cloud-based state-of-the-art solution to host the CCTNS Server.

CCTNS is a project introduced by the Ministry of Home Affairs to interlink all police stations under a common application software to facilitate investigations, data analysis, research, and policy-making, in addition to providing online citizen services such as reporting and tracking of complaints.

The meeting also deliberated upon the status of various POSCO cases dealt with under the Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offence (ITSSO), a feature under CCTNS. Over 53 sites including 11 police stations and other higher offices are being covered under this system, with over 9 online services activated in Ladakh such as Complaint, FIR Copy, Character Certificate, Employee Verification, Tenant Verification, Event Performance, Vehicle Enquiry, Missing Person Search and Missing Child.
