CUJ organises plantation drive
JAMMU, Aug 09: Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PSG), CUJ and Students for Development (SFD) organised a plantation drive under ‘EK PED DESH KE NAAM’ Campaign in collaboration with Department of Environmental Sciences and Department of English at the Central University of Jammu as part of national level green initiative.
The plantation drive was conducted on the foundation day of the University and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Deepak Pathania, Dean Research Studies, who commended the initiative for its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. Prof. Sunil Dhar (HoD), Prof. Richa Kothari, Dr. Shweta Yadav and Dr. Dinesh Kumar from Department of Environmental Sciences and Prof. Vandana Sharma (HoD), Dr. Neena Viz, Dr. Farooq from the Department of English department also took valuable part in the event.
The ‘EK PED DESH KE NAAM’ Campaign aims to instill a sense of responsibility and ownership towards the environment. PSG and SFD, driven by their passion for environmental conservation and sustainable development, took the lead in organizing this event, which aligned perfectly with the university’s ethos of contributing positively to society.
Prof. Pathania, while addressing the participants, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting awareness about the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change. He expressed his gratitude to PSG, SFD, the Department of Environmental Sciences, and the Department of English for their collaborative efforts in making the plantation drive a resounding success.
Prof. Vandana Sharma highlighted the significance of the green initiative of the university on the historic 13th Foundation Day. She encouraged students and scholars to develop eco-consciousness and nurture the saplings they have planted.
Dr. Ajay Kr. Singh, Director and Dr. Ashwini from the Centre for Comparative Religion and Civilization with Dr. Ashok also actively participated in the event.
