CUJ Organizes an Insightful Visit to SCERT Jammu
Jammu, May 1 2024: The Department of Educational Studies embarked on an insightful visit to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Jammu, seeking to deepen the understanding of educational practices and policies among teacher trainees. The visit aimed to provide invaluable insights into the dynamic landscape of education, offering students a glimpse into the innovative practices and strategies employed in shaping the future of teaching and learning.
During the visit, the students delved into the heart of educational governance and innovation as they explored the SCERT facilities, interacted with professionals in the field, and gained first-hand insights into the development and implementation of educational curricula. The students engaged in interactive sessions with Ms. Jyoti Sudan & Mr. Yogesh Kumar, Sr. Academic Officer, who had shared the role of SCERT in education enhancing the pedagogical skills of teachers through training, research in educational technology and teaching methodologies, application of new and emerging technologies in the field of education. Furthermore, the SCERT officials also exchanged ideas and perspectives on various educational initiatives and flagship schemes adopted by the institution like TOYCATHON 2023, Kathashilp, Felicitation of FLN teachers under NIPUN Bharat Mission, Veergatha Edition 2.0, etc. The officials also emphasized the crucial role of the State Council of Educational Research and Training Jammu in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the state level where its responsibilities include curriculum development, teacher training, educational research, and monitoring and evaluation of educational programs. Additionally, SCERTs are expected to align their activities with the principles and objectives outlined in the NEP-2020 to promote quality education and holistic development. During the visit, students had the chance to witness the collaborative efforts undertaken by SCERT to enhance the quality of education and address the evolving needs of learners in the region.
Reflecting on the visit, Prof. J.N. Baliya & Dr. Aman expressed gratitude to Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT, and other SCERT officials for providing an enriching experience to the students. They also added that visits like these are invaluable for our students as they enrich the academic journey and offer a glimpse into the practical aspects of educational administration, training, etc. which undoubtedly shape their careers in the field of education. Prof. Baliya also commended the efforts of Prof. Asit Mantry, Head of the Department, for taking various learner-centric initiatives that enriched the young and talented students of the teacher education programme.
