Dang, Gujarat: Heavy rain lashes parts of Saputara
Dang (Gujarat) [India], July 29 (ANI): Heavy rain continues to lash parts of Saputara in the Dang district of Gujarat on Monday morning. Locals face commuting issues due to the uninterrupted rains.
Heavy downpours in the last few days have wreaked havoc in the state, leading to water logging and flood-like situations at several places.
Earlier, IMD warned of the possibility of rain and thundershowers for the next five days, starting today in several parts of Gujarat.
IMD issues an orange warning for several parts of Gujarat and nearby states for light to moderate rain and thundershowers today, including Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and in Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli; at many places in all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch and in Diu.
According to official statistics, the highest rainfall of 1 inch was recorded in Vijayanagar in Sabarkantha and Idar taluka, Petlad in Anand, and Vansda in Navsari.
Gujrat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is planning to visit the Dang district on Monday. Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate the Saputara Megh Malhar Parva 2024, organised by the Department of Tourism and Gujrat Tourism, to promote local employment and tourism at Saputra, the state’s only hill station.
The month-long Megh Malhar Parva organises programmes showcasing the indigenous cultures of Dang as well as the ‘Rain Run marathon, according to a statement from the Gujrat government.
The Monson Festival has been started since 2009 under the inspiration and direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The monsoon festival will be organised at Saputara for one month, from July 29 to August 28, 2024.
