Day 5 of IIM Jammu’s Orientation Program hosts knowledge based inspiring sessions
JAMMU, July 28: The day began with a lot of energy and on a positive note with the Yoga session by Shri Sahil Mehra, Yoga Guru. The Yoga session was coordinated by Team Anandam.
Shiv Anant Tayal, MD, JKPDCL graced the occasion and reminded the students that being a part of an institution like IIM comes with higher responsibilities towards society. He insisted on the students to become job creators not job seekers. Moving ahead, he explained factors of production, then he went on to describe when the economic reforms took place in the 1991 budget, the day that changed India forever.
He showed us the pioneers of India’s transformation during the 1990s, 2005 and 2010. Finally, he turned the discussion to the 2020s where India had taken the driver’s seat in the innovation field by India being the 3rd largest tech startup hub spot in the World. During his interaction he also gave an overview into the gig economy. He finished his speech on a positive note and encouraged students to become wealth creators in the nation’s best interests. The session was coordinated by Dr. Rambalak Yadav and Dr. Kapil Manohar Gumte.
The other sessions included “Teaching through Case” (MBA & MBA HA-HM) by Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Dr. Ashish Kumar, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Suchitra Karumanchi, Associate Director, Elanco began her speech by introducing the pharmaceutical sector wherein she presented several interesting facts and trends on the topic, “Core animal health market” and how it had been showing steady and resilient growth over the years. She also reiterated that the Pet owners are now younger, wealthier, and more aware about animal health and emphasized that the Human-Animal bond was reaching new levels.
She also gave a brief mention on how to manage the work-life after MBA. She stressed upon taking every change as an opportunity and urged the students to leave no stone unturned. She also shed some light on opportunity cost and how even the industry giants like Yahoo and BlackBerry failed to survive owing to their resistance to change. Her session ended with the establishment of Animal Healthcare as an attractive industry with strong growth drivers. The session was coordinated by Dr. Sajit M Mathews and Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Debargha Deb, National Manager Sales HR and Campus Lead, Dabur India Ltd. addressed the students and gave an insightful session on leadership, encouraging the students to move out of their comfort zones and the impact of leading from behind. The session was coordinated by Dr. Prakrit Silal and Dr. Praveen Kumar, faculty, IIM Jammu.
The session was inspiring in ways more than one as it suggested to break the limitations and stereotypes.
