DC Anantnag reviews status of employment generation schemes
ANANTNAG, March 09: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom today held a multi departmental review of various employment generation schemes in vogue.
Reviewing the engagement of youth in various self employment schemes, the DC called for a two pronged strategy of creating awareness about the schemes among the target group and ensuring hassle free registration and disbursal process for interested youth.
He said that entrepreneurs who have benefitted from the schemes and have set up viable livelihood generation projects should be engaged to motivate other youth to follow suit. He said display of scheme related information at conspicuous places and on social media platforms will also add in generating awareness.
Dr Basharat also stressed that interested youth must be hand holded at every step including processing of loans and subsidies as well as by providing technical knowledge necessary to set up viable businesses. He said that informative workshops on marketing and increasing scale of operations must also be encouraged.
The departmental heads presented the progress achieved till now by their respective departments. CHO said the department is supporting horticulturists and orchardists by providing seedlings, machinery support and promoting mechanization.
Similarly, through PMDP and MIDH, Agriculture has benefitted 1037 beneficiaries. JKEDI has provided training to 835 persons under start up India policy. While 91 beneficiaries have benefitted through the schemes of Animal Husbandry, 102 beneficiaries have been employed at trout farms and allied activities through support from the Fisheries department.
NRLM has had massive penetration in the rural landscape and as many as 6,638 SHGs are working in different sectors of the economy in the district involving more than 50,000 members. These SHGs are also marketing their products online.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, JD Planning, CAO, CAHO, CHO, LDM, DSHO, DD Fisheries, AD Employments, District Coordinator NRLM, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, representatives from KVIB, KVIC, and Industries among others.
