DC Anantnag takes review of District Red Cross Society, Health Schemes

Stresses on effective implementation of Welfare schemes

ANANTNAG, APRIL 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid, who is also the Chairman of the District Red Cross Society Anantnag, today convened an important meeting with key stakeholders to review the overall functioning of the District Red Cross Society.

Speaking during the meeting, DC acknowledged the importance of the Red Cross Society as a humanitarian organisation which actively supports the district’s welfare activities. He stressed  upon the officers, volunteers, and civil society members to actively contribute to the Red Cross Society, not just in terms of financial support but also through voluntary service and public engagement.

Hamid further directed health and allied departments to conduct regular Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities including physical camps and outreach activities, particularly in the remote areas to improve the functioning and delivery of welfare schemes particularly the beneficiary oriented ones.

He also called for regular monitoring of schemes so that there is accountability at all levels of health governance within the district. 

Other decisions taken in the meeting pertained to inter-departmental coordination, intensifying enrollment of beneficiaries under schemes, enhancement of outreach services in remote areas and improvement of quality of health services.

Earlier, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag delivered a detailed presentation, showcasing the range of activities carried out under the aegis of the Red Cross Society in the district. The presentation emphasized the crucial role the Society plays in reaching out to the vulnerable groups including the elderly, differently-abled, widows, and economically weaker sections, particularly during emergencies. 

CMO also highlighted the positive impact of health awareness programs, mobile medical units & blood donation drives. He also gave a detailed review of the various beneficiary oriented schemes including Centrally Sponsored ones.

Among others, the  meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag,  Programme Officer ICDS, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Medical Superintendent GMC Anantnag, Deputy CMO, Block Medical Officers, and other concerned officers and officials.
