DC Bandipora chairs NCORD meeting
Emphasizes coordination among stakeholders to curb Drug menace
BANDIPORA, MARCH 30: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman on Saturday chaired the NCORD (Narco Coordination) meeting at Mini Secretariat, here.
The meeting discussed various steps taken to curb the drug menace in the district and action taken in freezing and attachment of financial assets of drug dealers and pharmacies selling scheduled drugs without prescription.
The DC also took feedback from the Excise department regarding measures taken against illicit crop cultivation and destruction.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the need of the hour is to strengthen preventive measures, rehabilitation services, and community outreach initiatives to address the root causes of substance abuse besides providing support to affected individuals and families.
The DC, on the occasion, asked the concerned from the education department to create awareness about the ill-effects of drugs in the schools/colleges to make Bandipora a drug free district.
He said that drive against drug abuse and awareness programs must be converted to mass mobilization, which can be instrumental in eliminating the drugs menace.
He stressed the drug control department to ensure that all the medical shops and Jan Ashudi Kendras have installed CCTVs and computer billing.
The DC asked the concerned departments to work in coordination and identify key areas for intervention, strengthen enforcement measures, and intensify community outreach programs.
He emphasized the prevention of youth from drug abuse and addressing the growing concern of drug abuse within the society.
