DC Bandipora conducts extensive tour of Upper Authwatoo, adjacent areas
BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 02: In order to assess the challenges faced by the local community and explore avenues for development, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri on Monday conducted a comprehensive field tour of the remote Upper Authwatoo, including Tangteri and its adjacent areas.
Accompanied by a team of officers, the DC engaged with residents, local representatives, and officials to understand their concerns and aspirations. The residents highlighted several issues, including road connectivity, bridge construction, water supply shortages, and the need to upgrade the Primary School to a Middle School for better educational opportunities.
The DC assured the villagers of the district administration’s commitment to addressing their concerns and improving the region’s overall development.
This visit is a continuation of the efforts initiated by the DC to personally visit important stretches of Bandipora district and assess the developmental scenario on the ground. Last month, the DC had visited Sumbal and areas adjacent to Wular Lake, engaging with residents and officials to ensure timely resolution of developmental and public grievances.
Emphasizing sustainable development, the DC directed the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) to prepare a comprehensive plan for road connectivity in the area. He stressed the importance of minimizing tree cutting and adopting environment friendly construction practices to safeguard the local ecosystem.
To address water supply issues, the DC instructed the construction of a collection chamber and directed the concerned officers to formulate plans under the Amrit Sarovar scheme to ensure improved and reliable water availability.
The feasibility of constructing a motorable bridge was also discussed during the visit. The DC directed the officers to explore options for this vital infrastructure, which would significantly improve accessibility, particularly during adverse weather conditions or emergencies.
While inspecting ongoing work at the Sub-Centre Authwatoo, the DC interacted with officials and residents to assess the progress and address any concerns. On his way back, the DC met residents of Herpora Authwatoo, who raised issues related to road connectivity. He issued on-spot directions to the concerned officers to address these concerns promptly.
Among others, the DC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora, Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, Tehsildar Bandipora and other officials.
