DC Bandipora inaugurates cutting & tailoring centre under Livelihood Initiative of JKRLM- UMEED at Ayathmulla

BANDIPORA, JULY 03: In a significant step towards empowering the underprivileged community through financial inclusion and livelihood generation, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel ul Rehman on Wednesday inaugurated cutting and tailoring centre under livelihood initiative of JKRLM-UMEED in presence of DDC Bandipora Ms Firdousa Akhtar, local SHG members, NRLM officials and local women.


The launch event of a new livelihood initiative organised by District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) Bandipora, in collaboration with the District Administration Bandipora, witnessed the participation of various community members and local representatives.
In his inaugural address, the DC praised the relentless efforts of the district team of Bandipora and commended their dedication to uplift the women by facilitating their financial inclusion and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. The DC highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering economic growth and social stability within the district.
Emphasizing the potential benefits of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), the DC urged the participants to take full advantage of this scheme, specifically tailored to empower women. He encouraged females to actively participate in the initiative to enhance their economic independence and improve their quality of life.
The district programme managers of Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM) provided an in-depth overview of the programme. They outlined the objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes of the livelihood initiative, highlighting its role in fostering community development. The programme managers expressed their gratitude to the participants for their enthusiastic and thanked the DC Bandipora and the District Development Council (DDC) member for their unwavering support and presence at the event.
It was informed that in District Bandipora, 2500 Self Help Groups (SHGs) are active under NRLM with membership of more than thirty thousand.
DDC Bandipora Ms Firdousa Akhtar, who also attended the event, reiterated the commitment of local governance to support such initiatives. She acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the district administration and DMMU in ensuring the success of the program.
