DC Bandipora launches Chinar Plantation Drive at Mini Secretariat

BANDIPORA, MARCH 26: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora,  Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, today launched the Chinar Plantation Drive at the Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.

As part of the initiative, DC along with Assistant Commissioner Revenue, planted a Chinar sapling in the lawns of the Mini Secretariat, marking the beginning of the drive aimed at enhancing the district’s green cover.

Bedsides at Mini Secretariat, the plantation of Chinar saplings was also held at Nishat Park Bandipora, where Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora led the drive.

Speaking on the occasion, DC emphasized the importance of preserving the environment and highlighted the cultural significance of Chinar trees.

He said Chinar plantation drive is the part of ongoing efforts to preserve the environment and promote sustainable development, and called on citizens to actively participate in the plantation drive and contribute in making the district greener and more sustainable.

On the occasion, Senior official of Floriculture Department informed that  around 100 Chinar saplings are available for distribution and these saplings will be provided free of cost to educational institutions, shrines, and government departments, to encourage more green spaces across the district.

He urged the public and institutions to take advantage of this opportunity and contact the District Floriculture Office before 31 March to receive saplings.

Among others, senior officials of Floriculture Department and other concerned were present on the occasion.
