DC Bandipora reviews targets and achievements under Jal Jeevan Mission
Fixes timeline of March end for completion of all the projects which are at the advanced stage of completion
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 05: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel Ur Rehman, Chairman District Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), today convened a meeting to take appraisal of the works being executed under JJM in the district .
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, CPO, Executive Engineer(s) Jal Shakti Department and all other members of District Jal Jeevan Mission Bandipora.
The meeting was informed that in Bandipora District 122 Water Supply Schemes have been taken up for achieving cent percent saturation of households in Jal Jeevan Mission. Under the Har Ghar Jal initiative of JJM, 38 Rapid Sand Filtration Plants, 22 Over Head Tanks, 18 Bore wells, 149 pipe networks, and other allied works are under execution. District Bandipora has 47358 FHTCs, out of which 38871 households have been provided tap water connections.
Out of 122 schemes taken up under JJM, 28 Water Supply Schemes have been completed so far, which are presently under different stages of testing, commissioning, and operation.
Deputy Commissioner also took a detailed review of works taken up under various schemes of JJM viz. construction of filtration plants, OHTs reservoirs and laying of pipelines and auxiliary works, and the bottlenecks being faced by the executing agencies at the various levels.
It was given out that some schemes were facing delays in construction due to delay in resolution of the inter-departmental issues/permissions. Some of these issues have been resolved in recent weeks by the Coordination Committee headed by ACR Bandipora. Instant directions were issued to all the concerned departments to work in close coordination so as to ensure expeditious and time-bound completion of all projects.
During the course of the meeting, it came to fore that some projects in PHE Division Bandipora are facing unnecessary and unwarranted hindrances from some locals. Strict instructions were issued for initiating legal action against such persons by revenue officers in coordination with police.
While taking the review of the progress of projects of PHE Sub Division Sumbal, it was apprised that the major portion of works comprises of construction of OHTs (Overhead Tanks). The chair observed that the delay in the completion of the works has been on part of the contractors. The Executive Engineer PHE Division Sopore was directed to hold a meeting with all the contractors to ensure timely completion of these works and in case of unreasonable delays, the notices be issued to the concerned contractors for cancellation of their allotments in accordance with rules governing the field viz_a_viz terms and conditions of the agreements.
DC further emphasized that all the JJM works need to be executed on fast track basis and in a time bound manner and set a target of 100% completion of all such projects which are presently at advanced stage of completion by March end.
