DC Baramulla chairs Agriculture Development programme meet; discusses measures for its Rollout
Awareness to farmers key in successful implementation of projects taken under Agriculture & Horticulture sectors: Dr Sehrish
BARAMULLA, April 13: To discuss the rollout of Farmers Orientation programme under prestigious holistic Agriculture Programme at Panchayat level, a meeting of officers was today convened under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar at Dak Bungalow here.
At the outset, the concerned officers apprised the chair regarding the arrangements put in place for the successful conduct of farmer’s orientation programme under the HADP in the district.
The DC stressed upon the Sectoral Officers of Agriculture and allied departments to give the programme a wide publicity in advance so that mass participation of the farming community can be assured.
Dr Sehrish also instructed to raise awareness among the farmers about modern tools and techniques that have been incorporated in HADP to overcome the prevailing constraints and use different extension methods to motivate the farming community in adoption of proposed interventions in the approved projects.
During the meeting, the DC discussed high Density Plantation cover of the Horticulture sector and directed all departments to resolve bottlenecks in subsidized financial assistance provided to the beneficiaries. Formation of FPO’s was discussed with the direction to cover marginal farmers.
Meanwhile, the DC assured all possible help from District Administration for the successful implementation of the programme in the district to uplift the livelihood of the farming community.
With regard to the Orientation programme, the DC said that the awareness and advice to the farmers will be key in successful implementation of projects taken under Agriculture and Horticulture sectors.
She also directed the staff to keep themselves updated and additional knowledge about schemes and economic models of dairy/poultry farming and advance technologies like hydroponics matters so that they can encourage the farmers regarding the benefits and profits of modern technologies and schemes.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning M Yousuf Rather, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Development, Officers from Agriculture, Horticulture Animal Husbandry, besides other officers of all concerned departments.
