DC chairs meeting to review functioning of MC Kathua
Flags off fleet of vans for Door-to-Door Waste collection
KATHUA, December 05: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas who is also Administrator of Municipal Council Kathua, today convened a meeting to review the functioning of the Municipal council here today.
The Executive Officer and other staff members of the municipal council attended the meeting.
The DC flagged off a fleet of 6 Door-to-Door collections Vans which are being pressed into action for smooth collection and dumping of waste in 1 to 12 wards in the first phase of the drive.
While speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that the need was felt to streamline the garbage collection in the municipal limits where the resources are limited and manpower is insufficient to cater to door to door collection of waste regularly. As such, M/S Shri Shyam Associates and Marvel Waste Management have been empanelled for the said job. He expressed hope that all the citizens shall come forward in making the district clean and green by disposing off the waste in the dedicated vans deployed for the purpose.
The DC further informed that similar Door-to-Door waste collection shall be carried out in the remaining wards in the coming days. He said the idea was to make the city rid of waste dumping points besides ensuring disposal of waste in a scientific manner.
Earlier, the CEO MC Kathua apprised the DC about the status of cleanliness, building permission besides discussing the strength of field staff viz a viz the number of vehicles being operated by the MC for collection and dumping of waste etc.
On the issue of encroachment, the DC laid thrust on removing all unauthorised occupations by shopkeepers and street vendors, further appealed for cooperation from the public in maintaining cleanliness and vacating the unauthorised occupation of the pavements.
Regarding undue delay in issuance of building permission applications, the DC assured that all the necessary permissions shall be granted within fixed timelines.
