DC discusses action plan for implementation of ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ in Ramban district
RAMBAN, September 19: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today discussed the action plan for the implementation of ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to facilitate and honour traditional skills of craftspeople and their exemplary commitment and contribution in economic growth of the society.
ADC, Harbans Sharma; ACR, Giasul Haq; GM DIC, Ravinder Anand; ALC, Sushant Mahajan; DMO, EO Ramban MC, Superintendent ITI Ramban and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Discussing the salient features of PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ a transformative initiative of GOI, the Deputy Commissioner said that the scheme will directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftspeople of the district working with their hands and tools.
It was informed that the scheme offers a range of benefits including toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training to artisans, Rs 500 per day during training, collateral-free credit support up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the stakeholders to extend the benefits of this scheme across the district and transform the lives of the artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools. It will ensure the Vishwakarmas are provided with financial assistance, skill upgradation and they are integrated with the modern technology of different skills and craft related works.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Government has recognized more than 29 other crafts and brought them under the ambit of handicrafts and handloom sector. He directed the GM DIC to start the process of registration and issuance of ID cards as per guidelines in close coordination with Assistant Labour Commissioner and other departments.
