DC discusses modalities for celebration of JJM fortnight in District Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, July 31: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav today chaired a meeting with officials from the Jal Shakti Department and the associated officers of JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission) to discuss the action plan for celebration of Jal Jevan Mission Fortnight.

The meeting focused on the arrangements and modalities for the forthcoming JJM Fortnight celebration scheduled from 1st to 14th August 2023.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav emphasized the need to intensify awareness generation activities about the various initiatives and objectives of JJM among the common masses, who play a vital role as stakeholders.
The attendees received detailed insights into the role and responsibilities of various departments/officers involved in the JJM Fortnight celebration.
Dr. Devansh Yadav underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives of the fortnight-long celebration.
In the context of the celebration, the officers of different ranks from the District Administration were tasked with visiting various Gram Panchayats to inspect the JJM works and interact with local communities. These interactions aim to raise awareness and gather valuable feedback on the implementation of JJM.
The meeting also held thorough discussions on the guidelines of the JJM Scheme, with attendees instructed to disseminate the same at the grassroots level.
Several activities were outlined to mark the JJM Fortnight celebration, including the installation of signages on all water supply schemes, ensuring 100% coverage by the PHE/JSD Division before the commencement of the event, and the identification of “JJM Nodal Person” from each village for effective organization of the celebration.
Other activities encompassed in the fortnight’s events include the display of PAANI SAMITIS particulars at Panchayat Offices, special Gram Sabhas for discussing JJM, availability of FTKs (Field Test Kits) in each village, FTK training workshops at the District level, and various IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities.
To bolster awareness, various engaging activities such as Parchar Rath (ISA-GVT Kishtwar conducted in each Panchayat), Nukad Natak/Street Plays (ISA-GVT Kishtwar), rallies by school children and village communities, debates in Higher Secondary Schools, painting competitions in High and Higher Secondary Schools, and the creation of selfie points around WSS (Water Supply Schemes) with signage in the background will take place.
In the meeting, it was informed that the themes for the celebration will revolve around essential water-related topics such as Water Conservation, Water Quality, Climate Change, Rainwater Harvesting, and Grey Water Management.
The DPMU Kishtwar has been tasked with ensuring facilitation and coordination among various functionaries to ensure the success of the celebration.
Moreover, JJM Nodal Persons are expected to maintain a diary of day-to-day activities conducted in each village and ensure the inauguration of works completed under JJM.
The Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav, expressed optimism that the celebration of the JJM Fortnight would foster community engagement and lead to a deeper understanding of the mission’s objectives, contributing to sustainable water management in the region.
