DC Ganderbal chairs mega Block Diwas at Hariganwan
Distributes SSLs for installation in public places
GANDERBAL, December 13: In an endeavor to address and resolve community concerns, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a comprehensive Block Diwas public outreach program at Higher Secondary School Hariganwan.
The event aimed at fostering direct communication between the administration and the public, offering a platform for addressing pertinent issues and outlining plans for sustainable development.
Various key issues of public interest were brought to the forefront by PRIs and locals during the event, encompassing the enhancement of inner roads, sanction of timber depot, augmentation of power and water infrastructure, better healthcare facilities at PHC, repairing of Government Higher Secondary School GHSS Hariganiwan, establishment of a bank facility at Ganiwan, and other matters pivotal to the community’s welfare.
Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized the district administration’s commitment to inclusive development, leveraging local participation for the upliftment of far-flung areas. He assured attendees that the concerns raised, including the establishment of a J&K bank branch at Ganiwan, have been duly forwarded to the relevant authorities for prompt consideration.
Underlining the significance of door-to-door waste collection, the DC urged residents to comply with nominal sanitation charges stipulated by the district administration to support the ongoing efforts in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the area.
As part of the mega Block Diwas, DC distributed solar street lights (SSL) procured under DDC/BDC/PRI Grants. He instructed installation teams to ensure proper deployment of SSLs along roadsides and other public places, as identified by the respective PRI members. Furthermore, he announced plans for the installation of SSLs in other Panchayats in the coming days.
During the event, PRIs highlighted the commendable achievements in Block Gund, including the development of playfields, augmentation of power infrastructure, and the improvement of roads, earning praise from the local community.
Meanwhile, the Deputy CEO from Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency briefed attendees about additional subsidy schemes, such as the solar water pumps with an 80 percent subsidy and the Solar Rooftop scheme. He reassured the community that solar street lights would be maintained free of cost for a period of five years.
The event witnessed the presence of Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Chief Planning Officer, SDM Kangan, CEO, SDA, ACD, and other district and sectoral officers.
