DC Ganderbal reviews functioning of SWD, Mission Shakti & One Stop Centre

GANDERBAL, JULY 16: In order to review the progress, implementation and extension of benefits of various Government schemes under Social Welfare Department (SWD), the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting of officers at V.C Room, here.


The DC held a threadbare deliberation on implementation of beneficiary-oriented schemes and took comprehensive review of schemes including National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), Marriage Assistance Scheme (MAS), Mission Shakti and One Stop Centre.
At the outset, a detailed Powerpoint presentation was given by the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and apprised the DC about the functioning of the Department and targets achieved so far.


While giving Statistics of schemes, DSWO informed that 33477 beneficiaries are registered under ISSS and NSAP including Widow pension and Physically Challenged Persons in the district besides 925 cases have been sanctioned during 2023-24 under Marriage Assistance Scheme and 94 cases of 2024-25 have been forwarded for accord of sanction.


Furthermore, he informed that 55 motorized tricycles have been distributed among eligible beneficiaries.
The DC also took a detailed review of services both institutional and non-institutional provided under Mission Vatsalya and functioning of Child Helpline (1098).
The DC stressed upon the officers to take comprehensive measures to reach out to all eligible beneficiaries, besides making the Welfare schemes easily accessible to the people so that maximum beneficiaries of the district can reap the benefits.


Meanwhile the DC reviewed the functioning of Mission Shakti and One Stop Centre to assess the effectiveness and impact of these initiatives in supporting and empowering women in the district.


The DC urged for intensifying awareness campaigns to inform women about the services available through Mission Shakti and the One Stop Centre. This would help in reaching out to more women in need and encouraging them to take advantage of these initiatives.
The DC reaffirmed the commitment of the District Administration to empower women and address issues of violence against women through proactive measures and robust support systems.
