DC Gbl chairs Block Diwas at Manasbal
Says locals are prime stakeholders to preserve pristine glory of Manasbal Lake; District Admin focused for its beautification
GANDERBAL, JANUARY 25: In a bid to address the concerns and aspirations of the local community, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today presided over the Block Diwas program at Manasbal for Block Safapora in the district.
The event served as a platform for direct communication between the administration and the public, focusing on fostering inclusive development and addressing pertinent issues.
During the event, residents of Safapora and nearby villages raised various concerns, including the need for improved health facilities at NTPHC Gratabal, timber availability, street lights repair, Lar canal dredging/repair, early commissioning of administrative block, and the development of a playfield at Pahlipora.
After attentively listening to the concerns raised, the DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to inclusive development, emphasizing the importance of local participation in uplifting far-flung areas. Immediate instructions were issued to the relevant departments for the timely resolution of the genuine issues raised during the Block Diwas.
Addressing the dredging of the Lar canal, the DC directed the Executive Engineer I&FC to commence work promptly in priority areas. For street lights repairs and installation, the CEO of Manasbal Development Authority was tasked with submitting a report on damaged street lights and identifying locations for new installations.
Highlighting the significance of preserving the pristine glory of Manasbal Lake, the DC asserted that locals, especially those residing on its periphery, are the primary stakeholders in this endeavor. He urged the community to refrain from disposing sewage pipes or garbage into the lake, highlighting the district administration’s ongoing measures for the lake’s development, including the construction of pedestrian paths, lighting, and viewpoints.
Underlining the commitment to robust area development, the DC assured swift completion of infrastructure projects and efficient service delivery to both urban and rural areas of the district.
The Block Diwas program was attended by ADDC, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; DDC Member Sapapora, CEO MDA, ACD, SE R&B, Executive Engineers, and other district and sectoral officers.
Furthermore, the DC recognized and felicitated students from Ganderbal who excelled in sports events held across different states.
Later, the DC inspected ongoing development works at Manasbal Lake, particularly the 2.7 km pedestrian walk path from Kondbal onwards,
SE R&B informed the DC that the walk path project comprising of four components including link road from Pottermulla /Gulabbagh near patwar khana to engineering college comprising of 1100 meter length, 8 meter span RCC culvert, construction of R wall, and Development of parking area at Manasbal.
The DC gave necessary instructions for its timely completion and other associated works.
