DC inaugurates DMFT funded First-of-Its-Kind Rajmash Packaging Unit for Marwah Farmers
KISHTWAR, May 13: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav today inaugurated the first-of-its-kind Rajmash packaging unit for the Himalayan Rajamash Farmers’ Producers Cooperative Ltd. (FPO) of Marwah block.
The inaugural function was attended by BDC Chairman Kishtwar, Suresh Sharma; Tehsildar Kishtwar Muneeb Umar; Chief Agriculture Officer, Amjad Hussain Malik; DAO, SMS DL, SDAO Marwah, & Officers/officials from Agriculture Department, besides FPO members and progressive farmers from Marwah.
Funded by the District Mineral Fund Trust, the unit has been established at a cost of Rs 1.90 lakhs at the AEO office Kishtwar.
The packaging unit aims to promote brand and export high-quality organic Rajmash (Kidney Beans) of Marwah, known for their unique taste and high nutritional value.
The Deputy Commissioner along with other Officers inspected the stalls of the local products and interacted with the farmers and the Farmers Produce Organisation members and shared valuable insights.
A demonstration on the packaging unit was given on the occasion.
The DC congratulated the FPO on the establishment of the packaging unit, emphasizing its potential to boost the farmers’ sales and exports. He also highlighted the importance of promoting, branding, and packaging the local products including the Rajmash of Marwah to attract customers and generate more profit for the farmers.
The DC Kishtwar further announced plans to promote other local products, including Saffron, as the district has immense potential in this sector. He assured that the District Administration is taking concrete steps to revive the Berwar Saffron Development Park for the enhanced production of this precious product.
The BDC Chairman & the CAO thanked DC for providing the packaging unit under the DMFT, which would greatly benefit the farmers of Marwah.
During the programme the need for the establishment of the Saffron Packing unit was also highlighted by the CAO.
