DC inspects IWMP Works in Doongi Block; Directs for convergence with HADP

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 04: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma conducted an extensive inspection of works executed under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) in Doongi block today. The inspection assessed the quality and progress of projects aimed at enhancing natural resource management and improving rural livelihoods.


The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ADDC Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Project Officer IWMP, Sheraz Ahmed, and other district officers.
DC Abhishek Sharma evaluated the IWMP projects, including water harvesting structures, soil conservation measures, plantation drives, and rural infrastructure improvements. While appreciating the ongoing efforts, he emphasized the need to align these initiatives with broader developmental schemes to maximize the impact.
Highlighting the importance of convergence, DC Rajouri directed the concerned officers to identify and take up projects under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and MGNREGA. He stressed that integrating IWMP activities with HADP would enhance agricultural productivity and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to the local population.


“Convergence of IWMP with schemes like HADP and MGNREGA is crucial to ensure efficient use of resources and the overall development of rural areas. The administration is committed to delivering long-term benefits to the people through such integrated approaches,” he added


The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with locals and sought their feedback on the implementation of IWMP projects. He assured them that their suggestions would be considered while planning future initiatives.


PO IWMP, Sheraz Ahmed, provided an overview of the ongoing works and highlighted their impact on soil conservation and water management in the region.
The visit concluded with the Deputy Commissioner directing all departments involved to prepare a detailed plan for upcoming projects under convergence mode, ensuring they are implemented within stipulated timelines and achieve desired objectives.
