DC interacts with farmers, processors of Lavender
Asks for capacity building, quality improvement to meet market competition
DODA, MARCH 03: A delegation of farmers associated with lavender cultivation and its processing today called on Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan here in his office. Chief Agriculture Officer, Anil Gupta was also present. The farmers apprised the DC about the lavender oil processing and said the production is expected to increase this season. They sought the intervention of the district administration to explore competitive markets in advance to enable them to get better returns.
The DC informed the delegation that the Agriculture and HP&M department, entrusted with the task of exploring new markets for the raw as well as processed lavender and its products, would be asked to explore markets where the farmers can get maximum return of their produce.
The DC asked the farmers to improve and maintain the quality of the produce to compete in the national and international level markets. The DC advised them to seek training and expertise from IIIM and KVK Bhaderwah for improving the quality and to learn better packaging techniques of the product.
