DC intervenes to make SAMAGRA Girls Hostel functional at Poonch

Reviews facilities, motivates girl students to avail accommodation to pursue their dreams

POONCH, September 12: Displaying a proactive approach, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today ensured the well-being and comfort of students at the Girls Hostel Poonch by conducting a thorough review of the available facilities.

 The building of Girls hostel was inaugurated in 2018 was not functional but this year it has been made functional with the intervention of Deputy Commissioner.

The Girls Hostel, managed by Samagra Shiksha, is meant to support students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families who are pursuing their education in and around Poonch city. It offers comprehensive facilities, including boarding and lodging, to facilitate their educational pursuits.

During his visit, Chief Education Officer Bishamber Dass provided a detailed briefing to the Deputy Commissioner, highlighting the outstanding facilities and services available to the students at the Girls Hostel. He emphasized that although the hostel has the capacity to accommodate up to 100 students it currently houses only 35 students.

The Chief Education Office further stated that applications for hostel admission have been received, and the vacant seats are expected to be filled soon.

Interacting with the students and their parents, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of utilizing the Girls Hostel facilities for a seamless educational journey. He urged parents to encourage their daughters to make the most of this opportunity, as it would enable them to concentrate on their studies without any concerns about accommodation and related expenses.

DC Poonch took the opportunity to interact with the hostel’s inmates, attentively listening to their experiences and aspirations. His visit aimed to provide motivation and support to the girl students, assuring them of the district administration’s unwavering commitment to their educational well-being.

 DEPO Poonch, N.M Suri and Principal HSS Girls Poonch, Anjuman Shaheen were also present on this occasion.

The operationalization of the Girls Hostel under SAMAGRA Shiksha reflects the administration’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and standards for girl students. It highlights the importance of providing a nurturing environment that empowers girls to excel academically and realize their aspirations.
