DC Jammu reviews farming activities, revenue services in Bhalwal Tehsil

Inspects progress of work on Jal Jeevan Mission schemes


JAMMU, MARCH 1: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya conducted an extensive tour of the Bhalwal tehsil today, reviewing key development initiatives under agriculture sector and status of revenue services, besides progress of work on Jal Jeevan Mission Schemes in the area.


During the visit, the DC inspected ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission and chaired a Pani Samiti meeting at Water Supply Scheme Asserwan. He interacted with locals and their representatives to assess the quality of water supply and the overall impact of JJM schemes. He also inspected the drilling of a tubewell and the construction of a pump room building and sump tank at Karwanda.


The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the implementation of agriculture sector schemes and the farming sector activities of Self Help Groups, while inspecting a polyhouse farm in Assarwan Mishriwala. He assessed high-tech vertical farming of turmeric and organic crops such as Kashmiri chilli, guava, and papaya. He interacted with the farmers to gain feedback on the success of agricultural initiatives.


Further, the DC took stock of updation of land records such as Jamabandis, Girdawaris etc, and the overall functioning of the Tehsil Office Bhalwal. He was briefed on various revenue matters by SDM Jammu North, Athar Amin and Tehsildar Bhalwal, Monika Sharma.
