DC Jammu shares vision for PMAY housing, urban areas
JAMMU, October 16: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired a meeting to scrutinise the status of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) projects in various municipalities across the district.
ADC L&O Harvinder Singh; DIO Sanjeev Kapoor; CPO, Yoginder Katoch; Executive Officers of municipalities and representatives from the JK Housing Board were present in the meeting whereas SDMs participated in the meeting via video conference.
The Deputy Commissioner assessed the headway of both sanctioned and approved cases, paying particular attention to the development stages, including plinth and roof levels.
To expedite the implementation of PMAY initiatives, the DC recommended the inclusion of banks to provide short-term, interest-free loans to beneficiaries, ensuring the unhindered continuation of PMAY projects.
Recognising the importance of geo-tagging at various phases, the DC commended the ongoing efforts and urged concerned officers to streamline and improve the assistance provided to beneficiaries throughout the process. He emphasised the need for efficient coordination between Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Executive Officers of the municipalities to swiftly resolve any bottlenecks hindering the construction of houses.
Additionally, the DC addressed Executive Officers, outlining a series of practical yet impactful steps to enhance the overall look and feel of municipal areas. These measures include organising local bazaars, improving pathway accessibility, creating designated parking spaces, conducting regular cleanliness drives, beautifying vacant areas with plantation, clearing nullahs, maintaining functional streetlights, promoting artistic endeavours like graffiti and murals and enforcing building and construction regulations.
