DC Kathua conducts extensive tour of Bani, peripheral areas
KATHUA, OCTOBER 05: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today conducted an extensive tour of Bani sub-division where he inspected several ongoing projects besides taking stock of the tourism scenario of its peripheral areas.
The DC was accompanied by CEO Basohli Bani Development Authority (BBDA) and SDM Bani. He inspected the assets of the Tourism Department and enquired about the status of acquisition of 450 kanal land where scope of enhancing the amenities vis a vis tourism shall be explored.
The DC visited the site for Sports Stadium coming up at Saarthal to be developed by J&K Sports Council and took appraisal of the progress made so far.
While inspecting the Trout Fish Centre of Fisheries Department at Sarthal, the DC was apprised by AD Fisheries about the fishery scenario of the area and departmental efforts towards extending proper hand holding to farming community.
The DC also inspected the Potato seed Development Farm established by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at Bani for which 110 kanal land has been allocated to encourage off season farming in the area. He directed CAO Kathua to take on board the local farming community to augment their income by adopting off season farming activities.
At village Lowang, the DC listened to the grievances and demands put forth by the PRIs and locals and assured early redressal of the same.
While speaking on the occasion, the DC said the initiative of visiting Sarthal area was to get first hand idea of the tourism related infra available and to explore the scope of organising mega events to foster the tourism economy in the picturesque valley and adjoining areas.
