DC Kathua distributes Disaster Response kits among ‘Aapda Mitra’ volunteers
KATHUA, May 04: District Administration Kathua today distributed ‘Disaster Response Kits’ among nine newly trained ‘Aapda Mitras’ here in the Office chamber of Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Minhas along with ADC Deepika Rana handed over the kits to the trained ‘Aapda Mitra’ which also contained certificate of participation, I-Card and a T-Shirt.
The group of the Aapda Mitras has undergone 12 day training at Central Training Institute (HG, CD, SDRF) Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
Interacting with the ‘Aapda Mitras’, the DC Kathua impressed upon them to be proactive and utilise their acquired skills to save precious lives in the event of any disaster. He said the Aapda Mitra can play a deciding role in dealing with any disaster and called them as ‘all eyes and ears’ of the district administration who shall reach to the affected area and help in relief and rescue works efficiently.
During the 12 Day training at Central Training Institute (HG, CD, SDRF) Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, Aapda Mitras were imparted training in water rescue and mountaineering rescue besides fire-fighting skills, flood rope crossing, rappelling, climbing and rescue from higher buildings.
