DC Kathua reviews implementation of Aspirational Panchayat Development Programme

KATHUA, March 18: Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey convened a meeting to review the implementation of the Aspirational Panchayat Development Programme (APDP) in the district today.

The meeting discussed selection criteria for the most backward panchayats based on aggregate scores obtained across 19 blocks of the district. The DC called for taking all stakeholders on board including respective Mentors of the Panchayat who visited during Back to Village (B2V).

The APDP initiative aims to develop Aspirational Panchayats through convergence of various ongoing District/UT Schemes and Centrally Sponsored Schemes/Programmes. An additional financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to selected panchayats under the scheme for further development after achieving saturation in several parameters.

On the analogy of Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP), Jammu & Kashmir has rolled out APDP with the aim to ensure expeditious improvement in the socio-economic status of most backward panchayats across Jammu & Kashmir.

A total of 100 measurable indicators have been identified across 9 sectors including Agriculture and Allied Activities, Health and Nutrition, Education, Rural Development and Sanitation, Beneficiary-Oriented Schemes, Skill Development, Basic Infrastructure, Environment and Good Governance. These indicators will provide insight into existing status and incremental progress over time.
